Sanding, Refinishing, Or Staining Hardwood Floors:

Sanding and refinishing your hardwood floor is a very cost effective way to transform your home into a new look.

We have many years of experience of sanding, staining, and refinishing wood flooring and stair treads.

The use of professional heavy-duty drum sander's and edger's are used for a professional job. Normally, the floor is sanded with coarse, medium and fine grit sanding belts. ( The belts help eliminate the chatter effect ).

After the heavy sanding; the floors are buffed to ensure that the surface achieves the desired smoothness.
Buffing with 120 to 150 grit screens is essential before the first coat and in between coats to assure proper adhesion.

When a clear finish is desired; the use of a penetrating sanding sealer for the first coat is applied.

Since the sealer is applied right on bare wood, it will be mostly absorbed and will dry in a relatively short time.

After the sealer is applied; the proceeding coat's of polyurethane will be applied with 1 coat a day as long as the drying conditions are good.

Effecting the drying time is the humidity level, temperature, and air circulation.

After the final coat is laid down; the finish needs 72 hours or more to cure.

Floor staining is also a choice to change the color of your floor. the stain will serve as the protective sealer.
A darker stain ( lot's of pigment in it ) will take a much longer time to dry than a lighter stain ( less pigment in it ).
The staining process is somewhat time involved and skill intensive, as to ensure an even color.

Normally 3 or 4 coats of polyurethane will be applied.

We offer the customer choice of: oil-based or water-based polyurethane in the 3 different sheens being satin, semi-gloss or high gloss finish.
